Ulster BOCES is seeking an Assistant Principal of Career & Technical Education for a full-time, 12 month position in Port Ewen. The chosen candidate will play an integral role in providing each student with an educational experience which focuses on preparing them for a bright and successful future.

Career and Technical Education Programs
The programs offered in the Career and Technical Center cover a vast range of skills and specialties to empower young professionals to develop career awareness, explore various career opportunities, and develop skills necessary to be successful in the future.

Job Qualifications

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Supervise and evaluate instructional personnel; recruit and screen teachers; work with program team on development of staff training and in-service programs; schedule substitute teaching assignments
  • Supervise the data collection needed for record-keeping of student attendance and grading; work with the regional computer center and sending school districts for the generation of appropriate reports; communicate with students, parents, vocational teachers and component schools if needed.
  • Work with staff on development of student performance guidelines; work with teachers to determine plans and procedures for effective student management; involve BOCES resources, sending school resources and/or Principal and Director as needed.
  • Work with instructors on development of instructional programs; develop and maintain data system for generation of student's occupational profile.
  • Maintain enrollment, admission and attendance files; supervise recruitment efforts within all county schools; facilitate monthly "users" meetings; work with sending school administration on enrollment of students.
  • Work with program team on development and distribution of staff handbook; produce weekly calendars which keep staff informed of BOCES events as well as sending school activities.
  • Assist Principal in development of annual budget; make recommendations for updating existing equipment; maintain inventory of existing equipment.
  • Assist Principal in development of new programs; keep abreast of local labor market needs and make recommendations for program expansion or reduction.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
•3-5 years of classroom experience
•Experience in Vocational Education preferred
