MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Graduation from a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree, which included or was supplemented by fifteen (15) credit hours* in Computer Science, Data Processing, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or a closely related and three (3) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, technical experience in a computer center environment; OR
B. Graduation from a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree, which included or was supplemented by fifteen (15) credit hours* in Computer Science, Data Processing, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or closely related field and five (5) years (full-time paid, or its' part-time equivalent) technical experience in a computer center environment; OR
C. Graduation from high school, or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of technical experience in a computer center environment; OR
D. An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated above.
*Coursework in the use of specific programs such as WORD, EXCEL, or ACCESS and data entry is not acceptable.
Special Requirement: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license appropriate to the vehicles operated or otherwise demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Special Requirement for appointment in school districts including BOCES: In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for employment in school districts must obtain clearance for appointment from the State Education Department based upon fingerprinting and a criminical history background check.
