Ulster BOCES is seeking a Groundskeeper to join our team for a full-time, 12 month position to provide students and staff a safe, clean, attractive place in which to learn and work. In addition, a variety of semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other building maintenance tasks may be required. A clean driving record is essential.
Fingerprinting required. All Civil Service laws, rules and regulations apply.
Civil Service Classification: Non-Competitive.
Salary commensurate with experience and training. Salary range $46,228 - $50,531
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The work involves responsibility for the performance of routine grounds maintenance activities. Work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and involves a variety of tasks related to the maintenance of grounds and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level employee. Does related work as required.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Full Time, 12 Month Position
Monday through Friday, 7am-3pm
SPECIFIC DUTIES: The typical work activities listed below, while providing representative examples of the variety of work assignments in the title do not describe any individual position. Incumbents in this title may perform some or all of the following, as well as other related activities not described.
- Mows, rakes and cuts grass;
- Operates grounds keeping machinery and equipment;
- Performs minor maintenance to grounds keeping machinery and equipment;
- Maintains athletic fields;
- Keeps grounds free of litter;
- Plants and cares for trees, shrubs and plants;
- Removes snow and ice from walks, pathways and steps;
- May secure buildings and property;
- May perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of full-time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, in park or grounds maintenance activities.
