Ulster BOCES is seeking an outstanding educator to serve as Building Principal for our Elementary Summer School Program in Ellenville, NY. This half-day program will serve students Monday - Friday, July 7 - August 8, 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise as an instructional leader with an emphasis in literacy, as well as, have experience in working effectively with elementary children and their parents/guardians. In addition, the successful candidate will need the ability to foresee managerial and administrative challenges and to use creativity, ingenuity and good judgment to resolve challenges in a productive manner. COMPENSATION:
As per Ulster BOCES Administrators' Association contract for unit members.
$9,000.00 for non UBAA members & external applicants
To be legally employed in this position, you must possess a valid NY State administrative certificate.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work with staff, representatives of the host district, bus company, site camp staff and the Coordinator of Elementary Summer School to plan and deliver all aspects of the elementary level summer school program
WORK SCHEDULE:
A limited evening commitment starts April 1, 2025 for staff interviews and program planning. The daytime commitment is Monday - Friday from July 7 - August 8, 2025.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Participate in hiring staff
- Facilitate professional development for staff
- Set up the site location and finalize all required paperwork and site logistics, both prior to and following the dates of the student program
- Supervise office to insure effective communication and accurate record keeping
- Ensure the full implementation of all student IEPs
- Orient summer school staff, supervise instruction and ensure that summer school procedures are followed.
- Monitor student attendance and insure a learning atmosphere conducive to student success
- Complete observations and provide feedback for instructional and non-instructional staff
- Keep the Coordinator of Elementary Summer School and Director of Instructional Services informed of all behavior incidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
NY State administrative certificate, such as SBL or SDL. Experience with elementary and at risk students is a plus.
