The Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center offers dozens of high-tech training programs that lead to in-demand jobs in competitive fields such as information technology, healthcare, and various trade areas. Graduates leave the half-day program offered at our state-of-the-art training facility in Port Ewen ready for college and the workforce. Through a blended approach of classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and work site assignments, students build specific skills related to a career area. Our experienced instructors bring extensive job service in their respective fields and maintain close ties with business and industry to keep current with employer needs. Graduates leave the program prepared to enter the workforce, post-secondary technical schools, and colleges with firsthand knowledge of their career of choice. Upon course completion, students not only know how a task should be done, they’ve actually done it.

Salary commensurate with experience and training. Salary range starting at $63,112.00.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide instruction in a specific trade or skills that lead to successful post-secondary education or employment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Teaches knowledge and skills in one of more courses in technology education, using the course of study required by the New York State Department of Education (Part 100 Regulations) and other appropriate learning activities.
- Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and working time.
- Demonstrates workplace applications by working with relevant equipment, tools and processes, using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches and other instructional aids.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive environment in an activity-type classroom.
- Evaluates each pupil's performance and growth in knowledge and skills, and prepares progress reports.
- Selects electronic and print materials for instruction, and identifies tools and aides to support student learning.
- Maintains pupil attendance and makes reports of absences for each period.
- Communicates with administrators and school counselors on pupil progress, and prepares student progress reports. Calls parents/guardians when appropriate.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates in development to improve instructional delivery.
- Participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s).
WORK SCHEDULE:
10 Month Schedule, September through June
Monday through Friday
8:10 a.m. - 2:05 p.m.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- New York State Certification in Technology Education
- Excellent communication and computer skills
