Job Description

The Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center is seeking an organized and dependable individual to support school messenger, transportation, print production, and distribution operations. Responsibilities include safely transporting mail, packages, supplies, equipment, and printed materials between schools and offices; preparing, printing, finishing, packaging, and distributing print materials; operating digital printers and performing basic maintenance; tracking print orders, deadlines, and inventory; ordering supplies; and providing backup support to Shipping and Receiving. The position requires initiative, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Flexible hours are required. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Performs related duties as assigned. This is a non-benefited position.

Civil Service Classification: Non-Competitive. Merit and fitness examination does not apply.

Rate of pay: $22.33/hour

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is routine work involving responsibility for the safe operation of an automobile or small truck in the delivery of mail, supplies and equipment. The work is performed under general supervision but specific orders are given for assignments varying from the prescribed routine. Supervision over the work of others is not a function of this class. Does related work as required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
The typical work activities listed below, while providing representative examples of the variety of work assignments in this title, do not describe any individual position. Incumbents in this title may perform some or all of the following as well as other related activities not described.
1. Picks up and delivers mail and packages from post office and/or central office to schools.
2. Performs a variety of errands.
3. May deliver cafeteria food from main kitchen to other schools;
4. May pick up and deliver films and other audio-visual aids.
5. May collect and deposit school lunch monies;
6. May deliver bank deposits; May pick up and deliver recycled items;
7. May perform simple clerical tasks related to deliveries.
8. May perform routine cleaning and/ or grounds keeping chores as needed.

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of an appropriate New York State Drivers’ License
