The Ulster BOCES Academic Summer School Program is seeking an energetic and upbeat nursing professional to work in our fast-paced summer school. Fingerprinting required. All Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations apply.

COMPENSATION:
Nurse LPN $2,300.00 (per session, maximum of 2 sessions per day)
Nurse RN $2,620.00 (per session, maximum of 2 sessions per day)
This is a non-benefited position.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The program runs 4 days per week between July 8 and August 20, Monday to Thursday, from 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. Possible locations include New Paltz, Kingston, and Rondout School Districts.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Duties include assessing the health needs of students, parents, staff, and principals. Experience and ease with computers and people are essential.

Academic Summer School PrincipalJP5106

Ulster BOCES Academic Summer School has anticipated principal openings for Middle and High School levels. Possible locations may include Kingston, New Paltz and Rondout Valley. Limited evening commitment starts in mid spring for teacher interviews and program planning. Daytime commitment from July 1st through August 21st, 2024. Fingerprinting required.

COMPENSATION
-  As per Ulster BOCES Administrative Organization contract for unit members 
-  $8,770 for all others

To be legally employed in this position, you must possess a valid  NY State administrative certificate and strong understanding of best practices in teaching. Experience with At Risk students a plus.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work with representatives of participating districts and the Supervisor of Summer School to plan and deliver all aspects of the regional academic summer school.

WORK SCHEDULE:
May– June as needed for program planning and staff recruiting.
July and August – daily during registration, classes, exams, and grade reporting.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Interviews and recommends summer school staff.
  2. Establishes course schedules, registration, attendance, and grade reporting procedures.
  3. Meets with guidance counselors from participating districts on registration and grade reporting procedures.
  4. Plans and conducts registration informs staff of appointments as determined by registration.
  5. Supervise office to insure accurate communications on students’ attendance, discipline and grade reporting with students, parents, home school, and Instructional Services.
  6. Attends to special needs students’ accommodations for class time and exams by securing adequate support for enrolled students from home districts.
  7. Orients summer school staff, supervises instruction and ensures that summer school procedures are enforced. 
  8. Orders regents exams, monitors student attendance and insures a conducive atmosphere to support student success.
  9. Completes application and all reports required by SED and the Ulster BOCES summer school program. 
  10. Keeps the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services informed of all behavior incidents.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services.

The Ulster BOCES Special Education Summer School Program is seeking Crisis Intervention Specialists to work in a school setting. Locations include the Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL) at Anna Devine and Port Ewen. Fingerprinting required. All Civil Service laws, rules and regulations apply.

Civil Service Classification: Competitive. Merit and fitness competitive examination applies.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The work involves the responsibility of applying crisis intervention methods and practices within a population of at risk students in order to maintain order and safety. An incumbent in this class is responsible for monitoring and patrolling the hallways, cafeteria, bathrooms and outside areas at a school watching for signs of disturbances, violations of law or other circumstances requiring intervention. The work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher level employee. An incumbent is required to exercise personal judgment when necessary in order to handle problem situations in conformance with school policy and procedure. Supervision is not normally exercised over the work of others. Does related work as required.

  • Monitors and patrols hallways, bathroom and outside areas;
  • Removes disruptive students from classroom and non-classroom areas of the school;
  • Monitors in-school suspension and time-out rooms;
  • Escorts students to and from the cafeteria;
  • Monitors the behavior of students in the cafeteria;
  • Checks attendance at the beginning of each supervised class;
  • Locates students absent without out leave (AWOL) during scheduled school hours;
  • Monitors students during bus arrival and dismissal;
  • Escorts students to infirmary for daily medications or if in need of medical care;
  • Assesses the behavior of students for appropriate referral to behavior review class;
  • May perform a variety of routine clerical tasks;
  • May occasionally supervise a class when the teacher is out of the room;
  • May prepare and maintain attendance records and reports.
