The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise as an instructional leader with an emphasis in literacy, as well as, have experience in working effectively with elementary children and their parents/guardians. In addition, the successful candidate will need the ability to foresee managerial and administrative challenges and to use creativity, ingenuity and good judgment to resolve challenges in a productive manner. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work with staff, representatives of the host district, bus company, site camp staff and the Coordinator of Elementary Summer School to plan and deliver all aspects of the elementary level summer school program

WORK SCHEDULE:
 A limited evening commitment starts May 1, 2026 for staff interviews and program planning. The daytime commitment is Monday - Friday from July 13- August 7, 2026.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Participate in hiring staff
  • Facilitate professional development for staff
  • Set up the site location and finalize all required paperwork and site logistics, both prior to and following the dates of the student program
  • Supervise office to insure effective communication and accurate record keeping
  • Ensure the full implementation of all student IEPs
  • Orient summer school staff, supervise instruction and ensure that summer school procedures are followed.
  • Monitor student attendance and insure a learning atmosphere conducive to student success
  • Complete observations and provide feedback for instructional and non-instructional staff
  • Keep the Coordinator of Elementary Summer School and Director of Instructional Services informed of all behavior incidents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Elementary Summer School SecretaryJP5591

Ulster BOCES is seeking an organized and efficient elementary school secretary for our K-6 Elementary Summer School Program in Ellenville, NY. This half-day program will serve at-risk learners Monday to Friday, July 13 to August 7, 2026. Must be able to attend orientation on July 8 and 9.  Full commitment to the entirety of the program is necessary.. Secretary will be required to be on site for three days prior to the start of the school program. Full commitment to the entirety of the program is necessary.

School secretaries will work closely with the building principal and all staff to support an organized and nurturing environment for students.  The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to be flexible and creative. A background in elementary education or experience in a school setting is strongly preferred.

Fingerprinting is required. All Civil Service laws, rules and regulations apply.

Compensation: $21.50 per hour

Work Schedule:

Ulster BOCES Academic Summer School has anticipated principal openings for Middle and High School levels at various locations. To be legally employed in this position, you must possess a valid  NY State administrative certificate and strong understanding of best practices in teaching. Experience with At Risk students a plus.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work with representatives of participating districts and the Supervisor of Summer School to plan and deliver all aspects of the regional academic summer school.

WORK SCHEDULE:
April – June as needed for program planning and staff recruiting.
July and August – daily during registration, classes, exams, and grade reporting.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Interviews and recommends summer school staff.
  2. Establishes course schedules, registration, attendance, and grade reporting procedures.
  3. Meets with guidance counselors from participating districts on registration and grade reporting procedures.
  4. Plans and conducts registration informs staff of appointments as determined by registration.
  5. Supervise office to ensure accurate communications on students’ attendance, discipline and grade reporting with students, parents, home school, and Instructional Services.
  6. Attends to special needs students’ accommodations for class time and exams by securing adequate support for enrolled students from home districts.
  7. Orients summer school staff, supervises instruction and ensures that summer school procedures are enforced. 
  8. Orders regents exams, monitors student attendance and insures a conducive atmosphere to support student success.
  9. Completes application and all reports required by SED and the Ulster BOCES summer school program. 
  10. Keeps the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services informed of all behavior incidents.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services.
